As we prepare to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring, here is a roundup of what has been happening with the Bloomin Dementia team in the past few months.
Chistmas Raffle Success
We had our biggest and most successful Christmas Raffle this year. Thank you to all the local and national business who donated prizes, and to everyone who bought tickets. We raised over £1500 to go towards helping people live with dementia.
Thank You
The White Horse showed huge support to the Bloomin’ Dementia Charity around Christmas time, both holding a Christmas Charity Quiz which raised over £200, and donating many Christmas Dinners that we had the pleasure of delivering on Christmas Day.
Thank you to Andy Hunt and the White Horse team!
Music In Mind
These fortnightly events are proving immensely popular with everyone. Over 20 people attended the last session, with a minibus from Belvoir Home Care making the special trip to join us.
We want to see even more people there, finding the power of music and how it soothes and unlocks memories. It is yet another fabulous tool in our toolbox of dementia care.
Our next session is on Wednesday 1st May, full details here.
Love is in the Air
We had an amazing turnout for our ‘Love is in the air’ sing along at the Country Cottage with Jayne darling.
We saw new faces, who with our regulars enjoyed the love, tea, coffee and raffle prizes!
Thank you all for making the day so special, and as always, thank you to the Country Cottage Hotel in Ruddington.
Future Events
There are more events planned throughout the year. We have 4 more free events at the Cottage Hotel:
6th April Easter Event
10th August Summer Event
5th October Winter Warmer
14th December Christmas Event
We will also be running our annual events, The Whitby Catch and Big Day Out.
Keep up to date with our Events page to see everything that is happening.
Staff News
We sadly had to say goodbye to Amy Troke. Amy worked tirelessly to ensure all our events ran smoothly over the past couple of years. We wish her all the best in her new role with the NHS, but rest assured, she will still be around and has kindly volunteered to help with this years Big Day Out.
Funding News
We have had great start to the year with funding confirmed from The National Lottery and a substantial donation from legacy gift.
A massive thank you to Andy Hallam who has ensured these funds are arranged and secured.
These funds will all be used to help those living with dementia in the local community.
